About the artist

Max Langborne is a self-taught Australian abstract artist working on the Gold Coast. His large-scale paintings combine subtle tonal grounds and instinctive, free-flowing marks in pencil, charcoal and oil pastel with bold blocks of colour, drawing on influences such as Cy Twombly and Teddy Millington-Drake. A former law student with a lifelong love of architecture and furniture design, he approaches each canvas without a fixed style, painting only what inspires him. More about Max Langborne.
