What we frame
Framing services
Everything is made in our Woollahra studio. Bring the work in, or send photographs and dimensions and we will quote from those.
01
Fine art framing
A quality frame protects an artwork as much as it complements it. We use acid free backing, archival mats and UV protective glass for original works across all styles and periods.
02
Prints & works on paper
A full selection of mountboards, frames and glass. We frame limited edition prints, watercolours, etchings, screen prints, lithographs and giclee reproductions.
03
Canvas stretching & framing
Oil paintings on linen, mixed media, and anything in between. Shadow box and float frames are available for a more contemporary presentation.
04
Conservation framing
For valuable or fragile works we use conservation grade materials and museum quality glass to cut glare and UV exposure. If a work needs repair first, we can refer a restoration specialist.
Why the materials matter
Most framing damage is slow and invisible until it is permanent. Acidic mountboard burns a brown line into the edge of a work over years. Ordinary glass lets UV through and fades pigment, particularly in a north facing room. Work taped down with the wrong adhesive cannot be lifted later without loss. We use acid free backing, conservation grade mats and UV protective glazing throughout, and mounting methods that can be reversed by a conservator in thirty years time.
Choosing the frame
We will sit down with the work and talk through profile, colour, mount width and glass. A frame should sit behind the artwork rather than compete with it, and the right answer is usually quieter than people expect. For a collection being hung together we look at consistency across the group, and where a room already has framed pieces we can match an existing profile so the wall reads as one thing.
Framing for collectors, designers and institutions
We have framed for collectors, interior designers and institutions across Sydney since the early 1990s. For designers we work from schedules and can deliver to a fitout programme. For collectors we handle single works and full collections, and can coordinate with our art hanging team so the work goes from studio to wall without you arranging anything in between. We also make custom mirrors in matching profiles.
