Jan Gomez — Australian Animal & Figurative Sculptor

Jan Gomez is a practising Australian sculptor working in animal and figurative form. Gomez is a skilled metal fabricator as well as an artist, with a background in industrial design, 3D modelling and an extensive history in metalwork — a technical foundation that shows directly in the finish and structural confidence of the work.

Working principally in Corten and mild steel, Gomez builds animal and figurative pieces for gardens and homes. The forms are pared back rather than literal: clean lines and strong silhouettes, with enough anatomical truth to be unmistakable at a glance and enough restraint to hold up as sculpture rather than ornament. Corten weathers to a stable russet patina outdoors, so the work is made to be left in the garden and improve.
