Jason Aslin — Australian Abstract & Geometric Sculptor

Jason Aslin is a practising Australian sculptor working in large-scale abstract and geometric form. He is a skilled metal fabricator as well as an artist, and the two sides of that are not separable in his work — the precision of the making is what allows the geometry to read cleanly at scale.

Aslin is driven by structure and form, by geometry and symmetry, and is openly influenced by architecture. He works toward a representation of the positive and the optimistic: these are not austere exercises in shape, but forms with movement and lift in them. Built for outdoor life, the work is made to hold its line in a garden, a courtyard or a commercial forecourt.

• Spiral Sphere — 200×90cm. A two-metre sphere resolved as a spiral: a single geometric idea carried the whole way through.
• Barrell Wave — 290×130cm. At nearly three metres the largest of his works here, and a landmark-scale piece for an open setting.
