Oversized & Extra Large Paintings 200cm+

An oversized painting does something a smaller one can’t — it doesn’t just decorate a wall, it commands the room. For a double-height living space, an open-plan office, a hotel lobby or a boardroom, a single statement-scale original does more work than half a dozen smaller pieces ever could. It’s also one of the areas where SOHO genuinely stands apart: most galleries deal almost exclusively in domestic-scale work, while this collection is built around original paintings two metres and more across, from represented Australian artists.

Oversized Paintings & Extra Large Wall Art

Highlights include Michael Whitehead's layered, light-catching abstracts up to 3 metres wide, Yosi Messiah's crowded, colour-saturated narrative canvases up to 2.85 metres across, Conchita Carambano's richly textured panoramic canvases, and Zoe Ellenberg's nature-driven mixed-media works, among the biggest and most striking pieces in the gallery. (This collection covers paintings 2 metres or more on at least one side. For slightly smaller statement pieces, see large paintings 150–180cm.)

Sizes start at 2 metres on the longest side and run to 3 metres and beyond, with prices from under $7,000 to $31,300.

How big should a painting be?

A simple rule of thumb: choose a painting roughly two-thirds the width of the sofa, bed or sideboard beneath it. Over a 2.4 metre sofa, that means a work around 160–180cm wide; a dining or entry wall usually suits something in the 120–150cm range. Double-height walls, stairwells and foyers can take 2 metres or more — this is where panoramic and oversized canvases come into their own. Browse by size band: up to 120cm, 120–150cm, 150–180cm, or by exact size: 200x100cm and 300x100cm panoramic, or see every painting by size. For hanging height, fixings and framing for big works, see our guide to large wall art and statement pieces.

Not sure about scale? See large works in person at our Woollahra gallery in Sydney, or ask about a home art trial or room visualisation so you can judge the size on your own wall before you decide.

Oversized Paintings FAQ
What counts as an oversized painting? At SOHO, any painting 2 metres or more on at least one side — big enough to become the focal point of a room rather than sit alongside other pieces. Works 150–180cm are in our large paintings collection.
Are these suitable for offices, hotels or double-height walls? Yes — oversized originals are one of the most requested pieces for commercial spaces, boardrooms and hospitality fit-outs; see our office, hotel and foyer art curation service for full-scale projects.
Can I see the actual painting before buying? Yes — our Sydney gallery in Woollahra displays a rotating selection; contact us to arrange a viewing.
Do you deliver and install large paintings? Yes — we arrange delivery and professional installation across Sydney and Australia-wide. Delivery costs depend on your location and the size of the work, so ask us for a quote on any piece.
