SOL SOLACE
SOHOgalleries  – Woollahra 150 edgecliff Rd
October 17 to 31

This collection exudes the vibrancy and energy of sun-soaked days. Each piece evokes a longing for summer, from beach scenes, people pool side and activities bathed in warm sunlight, it is a celebration of warm weather, sun kissed skin and the essence of balmy days. So much inspiration from my creative practice comes from moments by the water. When I am at the water’s edge, my brain shuts down, I feel connected and I can get into this sort of meditative state where I am able to forget the world and everything that’s going on. ‘Sol Solace’ reflects the warmth, light and  meditative state I experience at moments surrounded by water. Inspired by the quiet beauty of sun-soaked moments by the ocean or poolside, where light and water create a harmonious dance of colour and reflection. I explore the balance between solitude and connection, painting vibrant, sunlit scenes to capture the serenity of being immersed in the outdoors. Using layered brush strokes, an eye for detail and a luminous colour palette, I aim to capture the stillness found in those sun-soaked moments of solitude that invite calm and reflection. It is an escape of both the physical and the psychological.

Leah Ramage, a self taught watercolour artist and through her distinct style she aims to capture moments and places, highlighting their simple beauties, while using art as an advocate to educate people on animal and environmental sustainability. Growing up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, a surfer, Leah has built a deep connection with the ocean and draws inspiration from her natural surroundings. Although she began painting as a child, it wasn’t until Leah started working with watercolours that she truly found her artistic voice. Her journey really began at the Manly Markets, where  she spent weekends sharing her watercolour prints with the local community. It was a place of connection, where she could meet people and see how her work resonated with them. That sense of community continues to inspire her today. Blending design with education, for her, art has become more than just a creative outlet – it’s a necessity for expressing important ideas and raising awareness. “My art becomes less about consumerism and more about educating and creating awareness”. The soul of Leah’s Mark is to make a positive difference in the world and to leave this world a better place than we found it.  Leah’s works push the boundaries of watercolour, magically capturing the transparency of water and fleeting moments. Australian culture is explored through coastal landscapes, ocean rock pools and moments of people captured doing everyday life. Through  vibrant, ocean inspired works, Leah aims to inspire a deeper connection to the natural world while educating viewers about the importance of protecting it. With a long list of commissions, Leah’s eye for detail and creative energy has captivated collectors from around the world while her works have been showcased at The Affordable Art Fair, The Other Art Fair, The Studio Careel Bay, The Creative Space, Outfall Art Collective and more recently SOHO Galleries
