Michel Canetti

Michel Canetti is a Paris-born artist whose editorial work has appeared in Elle and Vogue, with a client list running from Chanel and Givenchy to Air France and De Beers. His paintings carry that same sensibility. Working in watercolour and gouache, Canetti’s smooth, flowing lines celebrate the female form through silhouette and movement, with a discipline closer to calligraphy than conventional painting. As Canetti puts it, people respond to his work the way they respond to a Greek statue: not looking for a story, just drawn to the beauty of it. His works are on show now at Soho Galleries, Woollahra.
