About the artist
Gino Campagnaro
Australian Artist
Campagnaro paints with simple thick brush strokes and muted soft colours, providing space to detail a focal point of the painting. His aim is to make the complicated simple. His background in graphic art and fashion has led him to keep the edges, shadows and shapes simple and distinct.
"Sprezzatura, the Italian art of making the difficult look effortless, is an idea that has always lived quietly in my family. It’s in the way my parents approached life, food, and work; a blend of pride and humility, care and ease.
As an Australian with Italian roots, I find myself balancing these worlds, the restraint of modern Australia and the expressive soul of Italy. This exhibition explores that intersection, where heritage meets place, and identity is shaped by both belonging and distance. Through colour and form, I try to capture the quiet grace that sits beneath the surface, the same sprezzatura that makes life, art, and identity feel natural, even when it’s
anything but. These works are both homage and reinterpretation: to the beauty of origins, the poetry of adaptation, and the ongoing act of making something your own, effortlessly but never without effort" - Gino
