About the artist
A nocturnal companion to Constructed by The Sea: an orange eye, a striped pyramid, a classical column and a blue flame-like form hang in a balanced arrangement of wires and diamond shapes against a starry night sky. Dreamlike and precise at once. Acrylic on canvas, 111 x 111cm, signed.
James Willebrant is a significant and collectable Australian contemporary painter, a contemporary of Brett Whiteley, Tim Storrier, John Coburn, Martin Sharp and John Firth-Smith.
