Installation & Space
Sculpture Installation, Removal & Commercial Artwork Installation
Access, rigging, base preparation, structural sign off and precise placement. We coordinate all of it.
Residential, commercial and public environments across the Sydney metro area, including Mosman, Clontarf, Double Bay, Bondi, Manly and Cronulla.
What is involved
The hard part is everything before the final placement.
If the path from delivery to final position is complicated, that is a situation we have worked through before.
01
Site assessment
Access, load paths, ground conditions and sightlines. We work out how the work gets in before anything is committed.
02
Rigging & base prep
Lifting equipment sized to the work, footings and fixings specified, and structural sign off obtained with engineers where required.
03
Placement
Final orientation set against sightlines and light, then levelled, secured and cleaned down before handover.
Sculpture installation
Large scale sculpture installation involves real logistical complexity: access, rigging, base preparation, structural requirements and precise placement. We coordinate all of it. Where structural sign off is required, we work with engineers and builders to get there. On commercial sites we work alongside other trades, attend outside business hours where access requires it, and report to the project manager against the construction programme.
Commercial artwork installation
We install for hotels, offices, hospitals, schools, strata common areas and public sites, from a single lobby piece to a multi floor collection. Where a site requires it we can supply a certificate of currency, method statements and a site specific risk assessment before attending. Work can be staged so that occupied floors are not disrupted.
Sculpture removal and relocation
Deinstallation requires the same care as installation, particularly for large bronze and metal works. We manage sculpture removal for clients who are selling, relocating or renovating, transporting the work safely from its current site to storage, a new location or a freight handler. We advise on condition assessment before and after movement, and can refer works that need conservation to appropriate specialists.
Plinth design and fabrication
A sculpture on the wrong plinth looks wrong. The height, material, proportion and finish of the base is as important as anything else in the presentation. We design and fabricate custom plinths in timber, stone, steel and composite materials, matched to the specific work and its environment. For commercial installations, plinths can also be designed to meet OH&S and anti tamper requirements. See our sculpture plinths page for materials and finishes.
