Garden Sculpture
A garden is never really finished until something in it holds your eye — and that’s what a well-placed sculpture does. It turns a nice outdoor space into a considered one, giving the eye somewhere to land among the planting and hardscaping. It’s also one of the few art forms that gets better with time outdoors: bronze deepens into a richer patina, corten steel weathers into its signature rust tone, and both only look more established as the years pass.
Our garden collection draws from across SOHO’s full range of sculptors and materials — from Mela Cooke‘s playful bronze figures and David McCracken‘s large-scale painted stainless steel forms, to classical bronze and abstract stone and metal works. Sizes range from tabletop pieces for a courtyard or entrance to monumental works designed as a garden’s central feature.
Placement matters as much as the piece itself: a strong sculpture works best with clear sightlines — from a main window, along a path, or as a focal point at the end of a garden bed — rather than crowded among planting.
SOHO provides sculpture for both public and private display spaces – offering our 35-year experience and knowledge of the art and sculpture industry to assist in the acquisition, commission, freight, and installation of sculpture.

Garden sculpture FAQ
Which materials hold up best outdoors in Australia? Bronze, stainless steel and corten steel are the most weather-resistant, needing little to no maintenance over decades. Painted or powder-coated steel finishes typically need repainting every several years depending on sun and coastal exposure.
Do garden sculptures need a base or plinth? Most benefit from one — it lifts the piece visually and protects the base from damp soil and garden edging equipment. We can advise on plinth options when you order.
Can you help with delivery and installation? Yes — we deliver and install nationally, including for large or heavy pieces requiring cranes or specialist freight.
Can a garden sculpture be commissioned to a specific size? Yes, several of our sculptors accept commissions to fit a specific garden space or budget — contact us to discuss.
