EXHIBITING SOHO GALLERIES and ART MELBOURNE MAY 24 to 27.
My paintings address
themes such as memory and reflection of
the past. A narrative placed inside a seemingly perfect geometric perspective,
evokes a sense of the alluring and emotional aspect (the human figure) within
the confines of the coldness of the absolute. Atmosphere, empty spaces, light
shining or flooding onto a floor or person, evokes nostalgia, a yearning for
lost opportunities.
Light, the
seductiveness of light is what interests me the most and what gives it it’s character.
The unique light in my opinion can only be captured in the most immediate and
expressive way through painting.
Jerzy Michalski is a
highly recognised and qualified Tasmanian artist who exhibits both nationally
and internationally. His genre takes inspiration from the studied interior, the
structure of spaces, the classical reference and the inner self within urban
places. This exhibition pushes his
presentation and crafting of colour composition as well as a sense of personal
inner colours and moods.
This
collection of works conceive interiors, but in metaphorical sense. My aim is to
portray a dreamlike scenario whereby the viewer is given the opportunity to
decide and interpret the images present.
Dreams can be
harbingers of a diverse range of meanings, some full of hope and encouragement
while others my leave us full of doubt and despair.
You, the
viewer can call upon your own memories and past experiences to relate to those
images I present. I invite you to join me in my endeavour to understand where I
am now, nothing is concrete or absolute especially where art is concerned but
as with all mysteries the journey is always the best part.
