ANNE HARRY - TIMBER ASSEMBLAGE WALL RELIEF
Anne Harry is a graduate of the University of Tasmania's furniture design programme. During her seven years in Tasmania, her work became influenced by the colonized landscapes she saw around her, the logging coupes, the mines and the aerial landscapes she viewed as a regular traveller between Tasmania and mainland Australia.
In 1996 Anne was a part of the Chicago Fifteen, a contingent of Australian contemporary furniture designers who exhibited at SOFA in the USA.
Anne spent two years as a design associate at the Jamfactory Centre for Craft and Design in her hometown Adelaide where she developed the highly successful Dustbowl series based on aerial landscapes of the Leigh Creek coal mine in the arid north of South Australia.
Anne has also stretched her design skills to film and has worked on a number of feature films released internationally in particular, Rabbit Proof Fence aka The Lost Generation.
In July 2003 Anne travelled to Rome to take up a three-month residency to research domestic objects in the south of Italy.
Anne's design practice embraces a place between art, design and traditional craft techniques while creating links with industrial production.
