ULRIC STEINER is an inspired designer craftsperson.
Born into a family of artisans he escaped to wider horizons by building an ocean going yacht in landlocked Switzerland and sailing it solo through French rivers to the Mediterranean; then the West Indies and the Marquesas, to Australia. Asian sculpture particularly that of Japan is an important influence on his work as he often travels in this region.
Pragmatic, imaginative and highly skilled, Ulric works in a wide range of materials to create sculptures both public and domestic.
His , kinetic and contemporary pieces, as well as maritime assemblages grace many corporate spaces and private homes. He exhibits in various Sydney and Melbourne galleries including SOHO Galleries, Graphis Gallery, Art House Gallery, Porter's Gallery and St Alban’s Gallery.
