Contemporary Sculpture exhibiting at Soho Galleries & ArtPark Exhibitions

Stephen Glassborow, has had a life long passion for working with the human form. Since completing a Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture, at the Brighton College of the Arts, in the UK, he has worked continually ever since.

Stephen moved to Australia in the early 1980's.

Over the years, his career as a sculptor has grown, to a point, where he now sells his work in many countries. He has completed commissions all around the Pacific Rim; in particular, he has public works, in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao, Shanghai, and Seoul. Stephen has produced public Artworks in Boston and Laguna Beach, CA. In Australia, he has produced public Sculptures in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, and around Victoria.

As a contemporary sculptor, he has always had a desire to explore the boundaries of traditional figurative sculpture. He still relies heavily on traditional, classical precedents and careful anatomical observation. Nevertheless, his figurative sculptures are executed with a refined elegance and whimsical beauty. You can see Glassborow’s early influence, started with Art Deco, but now, the association is blurred . Geometric lines are now used to reflect a different perspective.

His pieces are segmented, to define areas, and to create a structural quality that abstracts the image. In some pieces, the cuts are used to emphasise boundaries between colours. At other times, the lines cut the image in half.

Glassborow has developed a solid career having had over 70 one man shows .As a result he can be found in Art Collections in Australia and Asia including: Hilton Hotels in Sydney, Adelaide, Shanghai, Seoul, Bangkok; Qantas; KPMG Sydney; Crown Casino, Melbourne; AMP; ANA Hotel, Sydney; Park Grand, Sydney; Park Land, Kuala Lumpur; Imperial Hotel, Kuala Lumpur; St George Bank as well as works held by numerous private collectors.
