Artist Statement:

Artist Painter Photographer

I have been painting for about 20 years, prior to that I was a professional Fisherman and raising my 3 children. I'm a self taught artist and when I retired from fishing due to my osteoarthritis and anxiety, painting helped with my cognitive mindfulness therapy, my wife bought me a few pastels and paper and that was the start of my love affair with art.

I have been painting in oils for the last six years, I love the medium, the texture and the realism that I can achieve. I have never had the time to enter art competitions I might sound pompous but I really haven't. I have had my own galleries at Bonny Hills and Yamba and I exhibited solely in the Huskisson Art Gallery for 6 years until Jon and Col sold the gallery, I also have works hanging in Gallery One 88 in Katoomba.

I paint on quality linen stretchers I have hand made in Byron Bay and now my favourite oils are Gamblin and Charvin fine oils. I take my paintings very seriously and never let my works leave my hands without being properly dried and varnished.

As an avid photographer, I spend days searching for just the right subject, I love my birds, I am also an avid seascape artist, I love the power of the sea and the many colour's in the ocean. I use a Nikon D 7100 coupled with a 16/80 lens and a 200/500 lens.
