ARTIST MICHAEL JONES
In the twenty-five
years I have been practicing my craft as a ceramic artist I have created many
exciting projects. I would have to say this latest body of work is the most
exciting. Using elements of fire, water and earth to create something beautiful
has always been challenging and very rewarding. Introducing music into this mix
has taken me into an experience of creativity I had not imagined.
Starting out to create some simple totem sculptures based around the primitive
didgeridoo, it soon became evident that what I had made could actually be
played. Since January 2007 I have been researching, making and learning to play
the Didgeridoo. These ceramic Didgeridoos are my interpretation of the
traditional timber instrument. They play exceptionally well, with a beautifully
rich tone and high volume level.
