Exhibition Comments:

KRISTA STEWART

ABSTRACT PAINTINGS

Thirty years ago Krista Stewart took to canvas and paint in her early teens, applauded and supported by her artistic family. Her work then was semi-abstract modern. From her comfortable well lit studio/ showroom in the hustle and bustle of the main street in Brunswick, Krista practises her art daily. The local environment of the trams, the busy main street and constant flow of people and traffic inspires her current series of work.

Her artwork  is inspired by modern contemporary design,  which is further inspired by modern architecture,  and progressive contemporary design concepts. Recent commissioned works have been included in Melbourne developments such as Docklands and Melbourne Royal Women's Hospital Francis Perry Section ( main foyer. )

Architects & artists who have always inspired Krista are Zaha Hadid and Ross Lovegrove. Inspired by form and amalgam of previous study in textile design, design and sculpture Krista Stewarts latest artworks are fluid forms where plains of rich and sensual metallic coloured patinas come to the surface.
