I work with natural and man-made materials such as bronze, stone, aluminium, wood and glass.
My work combines symbolic images of both modern and ancient cultures. The aesthetic approach I use is modern, incorporating elements of mythical and ancient symbolism.
I have taught the techniques of bronze sculpture casting both in Australia and the United States andI have been an exhibiting artist in Australia for over twenty five years.
I was fortunate enough to have been part of a generation involved in new, artistic and cultural ideas .
My growth as an artist has also been influenced by the innovators of avante garde jazz and the artistic thinkers of the time. My association with various artists and modern jazz musicians in New York City has encouraged me to express my visual and creative thinking about abstract sculpture.
As a youth growing up in New York, I spent a lot of time visiting the Museum of Modern Art and many other Contemporary Art museums in Manhattan. Some of the artists who have inspired me most include Picasso, Noguchi, David Smith and Clemente Meadmore.
Much of my inspiration is drawn from the art of ancient civilizations, indeginous ritual art, african tribal art and oceanic artforms.
