You will see with this work that the colours and the composition are very primitive in its design and feel. For the most part Mark’s work deals with colour and shape but he is always drawing from his life experiences.
Mark spent some of his formative years growing up in Africa and it remains a strong visual influence for him to this day.
“Having been brought up in Africa I was exposed to the primitive art at a young age. I can remember being frightened watching a dance ceremony such is the power of the African mask. This period of my life left a deep impression and I have felt a connection with and have had an interest in African art since .Now living in suburban Adelaide I have used my surroundings as inspiration for these new paintings”
