Plumbís Inn still stands today, on the south side of the highway just outside Marulan. A raid on December the 19th 1864 was poorly timed by the gang, as the wedding of the innkeeperís daughter was in progress. The Member for Murrumbidgee, the Honourable William Macleay, was fired on by the gangen route to the celebration. He was able raise the alarm and the guests took refuge inside. In possession of a repeating rifle and a revolver, two of the finest weapons available at the time, he was able to frighten off the gang and the raid was aborted.
