The first death of a gang member occurred on 24th October 1863. When the Hall gang held up the Dunnís Plains property, a deadly gunfight resulted in the death of Mickey Burke. The owners, Mr and Mrs Henry Keightley were forced to surrender, after fighting until they ran out of ammunition. In retribution, the gang burnt his stock and barn. Sadly, the house no longer exists.
