Title CK THE BURNING OF MORRIS STORE, BINDA
Artists Name CHRIS KENYON
Dimensions 50x50cm
Description Mixed media on canvas
In a festive mood appropriate to the season, the Hall gang took part in the Christmas Ball in the local hotel in Binda on 26th December 1864. They had just robbed William Morris’ store and, accompanied by 3 women and the hostage Morris, they relaxed and drank after ordering everyone to stay in the hotel. Morris enraged the gang by escaping through a window at the ball and the spirit of seasonal goodwill was eroded completely when they burned his store down, a method of retaliation frequently employed by the gang.
