JONATHON HAYDE

CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS

EXHIBITING OCTOBER 2012

Painting has been with Jonathon for over half his life, discovering his talent and passion for art during his senior years of secondary education. Jonathon continued painting after completing high school and became a full time professional artist in 2003. Jonathon has over the years delved into many styles from realistic, to experimental and contemporary work.

He is passionate about art as the possibilities are seemingly endless, and are not constrained by anyone or anything, only his imagination. Jonathon’s expression with colour, balance and ability to adapt, have led to his work finding residence all over Australia and the world in homes, businesses and corporate spaces.

Hayde was born in Perth, WA but migrated to New Zealand at an early age. He returned to Australia in his teens and studied graphic design, fine art and experimental art, before going on to paint professionally. His art ranges from pure segmented abstracts, geometric abstracts in three colours, realist animal depictions with stylised backgrounds, through to realist fields and jungle scenes.

Hayde’s art – particularly his abstracts and geometrics – is highly suitable as a focal point for modern interior spaces.

His art hangs in the foyer of the landmark Q1 building on the Gold Coast, on each floor of the Reflections Resort tower at Coolangatta, in the foyer at Broadbeach on the Park and in many private collections.

ARTIST STATEMENT

When I was younger I thought self-expression was self-serving when it comes to art. However, over the years, I have grown to understand the importance of self-expression, not only to the artist, but to all who view art. Even if the intended meaning is not met at a glance, it will, in most cases, evoke an emotion or set a mood that is personal to the individual observer.

It is a difficult task to narrow the meaning of a lot of my work down to a clear definition, as it is often days of intermingled thoughts and ideas, and it is near impossible to slow the thought process down long enough to dissect it. The majority of my work falls into this category so it leaves a wide scope for subjective individual meaning for those who view it.
