JONATHON HAYDE ARTIST PAINTER
EXHIBITING OCTOBER 20 to NOVEMBER 20.
Hayde
was born in Perth, WA but migrated to New Zealand at an early age. He returned
to Australia in his teens and studied graphic design, fine art and experimental
art, before going on to paint professionally.
His
art ranges from pure segmented abstracts, geometric abstracts in three colours,
realist animal depictions with stylised backgrounds, through to realist fields
and jungle scenes.
Hayde’s
art – particularly his abstracts and geometrics – is highly suitable as a focal
point for modern interior spaces.
His
art hangs in the foyer of the landmark Q1 building on the Gold Coast, on each
floor of the Reflections Resort tower at Coolangatta, in the foyer at
Broadbeach on the Park and in many private collections.
ARTIST STATEMENT
When
I was younger I thought self-expression was self-serving when it comes to art.
However, over the years, I have grown to understand the importance of
self-expression, not only to the artist, but to all who view art. Even if the
intended meaning is not met at a glance, it will, in most cases, evoke an
emotion or set a mood that is personal to the individual observer.
It
is a difficult task to narrow the meaning of a lot of my work down to a clear
definition, as it is often days of intermingled thoughts and ideas, and it is
near impossible to slow the thought process down long enough to dissect it. The
majority of my work falls into this category so it leaves a wide scope for
subjective individual meaning for those who view it.
Having
said this, some of my recent works can be defined as looking into the overall
road people seem to travel along, and the unrest in the way people conduct
their lives and how people sometimes neglect to look outside the small square
they live in. The works are intended to bring about varied emotions and give
perspective to our sometimes busy lives.
There
is a fine line when painting with the freedom of self-expression and creating
something that will sit comfortably on a wall and take on the surroundings.
This poses a wonderful challenge for me every time I pick up a paintbrush and
is something I enjoy and look forward to.
