This body of work is a response to a
recent time I spent alone in Scotland
in the winter.
The wildness of the weather beat
against the solitary abandonment of the wilderness in the
Highlands and the unfrequented villages with
their private shadows.
The land seemed steeped in the
possibility of specters and veiled by dark histories.
These paintings explore the notion
of being alone, in relation to this experience.
They are not necessarily about
loneliness, but more, a surrender to isolation and
a celebration of solitude.
