My doctoral
investigation included the consequences of urbanism encompassing human
alienation and personal detachment.
It developed
exploring the existential predicament of place bereft individuals, encompassing
anonymity, a question of place, place panic, social organisation and the
cultural dimensions of place.
My work continues to
investigate the interdependence of psychological and physical space, place
identity, the interconnectivity of place with personal perceptions and regional
characteristics.
This current series
explores these ideas within the subject of landscapes. The beach serves as a
backdrop to many of the works with people in various leisure activities
compared to the work and industry occurring in the background. The balance of
work and leisure, personal and public spaces, urban and holiday places provides
a basis for this series of strong highly textured oil paintings.
Artworks visual and list of works on application.
